The Graduate School of Political Science was established in 1965 as one of the first graduate schools at Kokushikan University. In addition to the core fields of political science, it is actively engaged in area studies of the United States, Europe, Russia, Asia, and Africa and in addressing Asian and American political issues. Along with research into the politics, thought, and culture of these regions, appropriate language training is emphasized. The Graduate School is responding to the needs of our times by training talented individuals as researchers, staff of think tanks, statepersons, government officials, professors, staff of international organizations, and journalists. There are diverse types of students including international students and mid-career students. In addition, “Japan Program” started from 2013. This program aims to pursue a master's degree of arts and science. Mainly, this program is relevant for foreign goverment workers and teachers.It provides curriculum such as Japanese history, law, politics and culture.
