The long-awaited event of the century is approach. I am truly excited at the prospect of experiencing the world’s best performances at the actual venues. Many more people can share in the excitement through television. We can support those who challenge themselves to realize their dreams and those who cheer them on. We proudly carry out support activities as a part of our mission, and as an educational institution. We can contribute to the 2020 Summer Olympics and Paralympics, in which you can fully experience emotion, contribution, mission, and pride.
The 1964 Summer Olympics was the first Olympic Games in Asia. Many teachers and students from our university served as officials or assistants, providing important support for the operation of the Games. I would like to send many students to the 2020 Summer Olympics and Paralympics, not only as athletes, but also as supporters. We are very privileged to hold the Games in our country. I hope that our students will take this opportunity to enjoy the precious experience and gain knowledge that they cannot usually acquire at the university through volunteer and other activities.
Setagaya Ward is the host for Team USA. It would be wonderful if our students and the Olympians could interact with each other, and if the American athletes could get to know about our educational environment and activities. In addition, varied events and initiatives are currently being advanced to set the mood for the Tokyo 2020 Games, based on a partnership agreement with Tama.
We will contribute to the successful holding of the 2020 Summer Olympics and Paralympics and hand over its success and legacy to future generations, while undertaking initiatives for the benefit of education.
