Interest in andappreciation of the martial arts have been on the rise in recent years, not only in Japan but in many other countries. The Institute, through the study of the living cultural tradition of the martial arts, seeks to practice and disseminatethehumanistic teachingsoftheunity of theliberalandmartial arts.Its principal activities are as follows:● Study and preservation of traditional Japanese culture● Promotionofthemartialarts andmartialartsinstructioninJapan and overseas● Publication ofthe journals Bulletin oftheInstituteofBudo andMoralEducation, Martial Virtues, and Kokushi.● Sponsorship of lectures and seminars● Research on the Budo in the 21st century● Research on Budo for the DisabledWe deeply valuethespiriton whichKokushikanUniversity was founded—asaninstitution for fosteringtrueJapanesekokushi(modern Samuraiwho serves the country) — and one might say the Institute is unique to this university.文ぶん武ぶの道みちは、私わたしたち日に本ほん人じんの歴れき史しのなかに伝でん統とうとして生いき続つづけ、はるかなる時じ代だいから現げん代だいに継けい承しょうされている文ぶん化か遺い産さんであるともいえます。また近きん年ねん、武ぶ道どうへの関かん心しんと評ひょう価かは国こく内ないのみならず、諸しょ外がい国こくにおいても高たかまりつつあります。本ほん研けん究きゅう所じょは、伝でん統とう文ぶん化かとして今いまも継けい承しょうされ、生いき続つづける武ぶ道どうの研けん究きゅうを通つうじ、文ぶん武ぶ両りょう道どうの人にん間げん学がくの実じっ践せん・普ふ及きゅうを目もく的てきとしており、主おもな研けん究きゅう活かつ動どうは以い下かのとおりです。● 日に本ほん文ぶん化かの研けん究きゅうとその継けい承しょう● 国こく内ない外がいにおける武ぶ道どうの普ふ及きゅうおよび指し導どう● 「研けん究きゅう所じょ紀き要よう」「武ぶ徳とく」「国こく士し 」の発はっ刊かん● 講こう演えん会かい、研けん究きゅう会かいなどの実じっ施し● 21世せい紀きの時じ代だいにおける武ぶ道どうの研けん究きゅう● 障しょう害がい者しゃ武ぶ道どうの研けん究きゅう真しんの日に本ほん人じん、国こく士しの養よう成せい機き関かんとして国こく士し舘かん大だい学がく建けん学がくの精せい神しんを重おもんじており、国こく士し舘かんならではの研けん究きゅう機き関かんといえるでしょう。TheInstituteforCulturalStudiesofAncientIraqwas establishedin1976 atourMachida Campus.Withtheprincipal aim ofstudying ancientEurasianculturescenteredonthe regionthat isnowIraq, the Institute has so far conducted eldworks in Iran, Syria and Jordan, and has cooperated with the UNESCO project for restoration of Iraq’s cultural treasures; further it has been engaged in various other joint research projects and international exchanges. In the past, the Institute took a role of training Iraqi younger archaeologists in neighboring Jordan. The results of these activities are made available in a variety of publications including the Institute’s own journal, Al-Radan; and the journal itself has been highly evaluated in particular in foreign countries. With respect to research in Iraq, in 2001 the Instituteconducted the third archaeological campaign at the site of Kish, and in 2003conducted an assessment of the damage to the Iraq National Museum and other cultural properties, suffered as a result of the Iraq War. The war ceased, but the internal situation of Iraq still forces a suspension of other activities in Iraq.高こう度どでユニークな研けん究きゅう内ない容ようを誇ほこるイラク古こ代だい文ぶん化か研けん究きゅう所じょは、1976年ねんに本ほん学がく附ふ置ち研けん究きゅう所じょとして町まち田だキャンパスに設せっ置ちされました。設せっ置ちの目もく的てきはイラクを中ちゅう心しんとしたユーラシアの古こ代だい文ぶん化かの研けん究きゅうを主しゅとし、これまでに本ほん研けん究きゅう所じょはイラン、シリア、ヨルダンでのフィールドワーク、UNESCOによるイラクの文ぶん化か遺い産さん復ふっ興こうへの協きょう力りょく、学がく際さい的てき共きょう同どう研けん究きゅう、国こく際さい交こう流りゅう等とうの活かつ動どうを行おこなってきました。また、隣りん国ごくヨルダンでは、イラクの若わか手て考こう古こ学がく者しゃの研けん修しゅうを行おこないました。研けん究きゅう成せい果かは研けん究きゅう所じょ紀き要よう「ラーフィダーン」をはじめとする多た数すうの出しゅっ版ぱん物ぶつを通つうじて発はっ表ぴょうされており、なかでも特とくにその紀き要ようは海かい外がいで高たかい評ひょう価かを受うけています。イラク国こく内ないに限かぎれば2001年ねんにキシュ遺い跡せきの第だい3次じ調ちょう査さ、また2003年ねんにはイラク戦せん争そう後ごのイラク国こく立りつ博はく物ぶつ館かんおよび文ぶん化か遺い産さんの破は壊かい状じょう況きょう調ちょう査さを実じっ施ししましたが、現げん地ちでの活かつ動どうは目もっ下か自じ粛しゅく中ちゅうです。
