32KOKUSHIKAN UniversityAt the Department of Education, students can deepen their learning to access a variety of career paths to do with people and society, with a focus on learning to become teachers. Taking a perspective on “human development,” students will learn about how education works in both theory and practice, while also developing a deep understanding of and skills to support people and society. The curriculum helps students acquire multiple teaching licenses, ranging from kindergarten to middle and high school, special needs school, and school nurse, while offering a wealth of practical learning opportunities that include mock classes, practical training, small-group seminars, and volunteer activities in the local community. Through these activities, students acquire a good balance of practical skills, expressive skills, and empathy skills that are needed in the educational field. In addition to pedagogy, students can study psychology, sociology, welfare, community education, and human mental and physical development, letting you expand the scope of your learning according to each person’s interests and future goals.
