90 KOKUSHIKAN UNIVERSITYThe Institute for Cultural Studies of Ancient Iraq was established in 1976 at our Machida Campus.With the principal aim of studying ancient Eurasian cultures cen-tered on the region that is now Iraq, in recent years the Institute has cooperated with the UNESCO project for restoration ofhas conducted fieldworks in Iran, Syria, Jordan, and Lebanon,Iraq’s cultural treasures, and is engaged in various other joint research projects, and international exchanges. The Institute is assisting in training Iraq researchers in neighboring Jordan. The results of these activities are made available in a variety of publications, including the Institute’s own journal,　　　　　.With respect to conduct in Iraq, in 2001 the Institute conducted the third archaeological campaign at the site of Kish, and in 2003 conducted an assessment of the damage to the Iraq National Museum and other cultural Properties as a result of the Iraq War. The war has forced a suspension of other activities in Iraq.ユニークな研けんきゅう究内ないよう容を誇ほこるイラク古こだい代文ぶんか化研けんきゅうじょ究所は、1976年ねんに本ほんがく学附ふち置研けんきゅうじょ究所として町まちだ田キャンパスに設せっち置されました。設せっち置の目もくてき的はイラクを中ちゅうしん心としたユーラシアの古こだい代文ぶんか化の研けんきゅう究を主しゅとし、近きんねん年ではイラン、シリア、ヨルダンでのフィールドワーク、UN-ESCOによるイラクの文ぶんか化遺いさん産復ふっこう興への協きょうりょく力、共きょうどう同研けんきゅう究、国こくさい際交こうりゅう流等とうの活かつどう動に加くわえ、隣りんこく国ヨルダンでは、イラクの若わかて手専せんもんか門家の研けんしゅう修に協きょうりょく力しています。研けんきゅう究成せいか果は研けんきゅうじょ究所紀きよう要「ラーフィダーン」をはじめとする多たすう数の出しゅっぱんぶつ版物を通つうじて発はっぴょう表し、海かいがい外でも高たかい評ひょうか価を受うけています。イラク国こくない内に限かぎれば2001年ねんにキシュ遺いせき跡の第だい3次じ調ちょうさ査、また2003 年ねんにはイラク戦せんそう争後ごのイラク国こくりつ立博はくぶつかん物館および文ぶんか化遺いさん産の破は壊かい状じょうきょう況調ちょうさ査を実じっし施しましたが、現げんち地での活かつどう動は目もっか下自じしゅくちゅう粛中です。“The Way of the Pen and Sword”is a living tradition and cultural heritage we present-day Japanese have inherited from ancient times. Interest in and appreciation of the martial arts have been on the rise in recent years, not only in Japan but in many other countries. The Institute, through the study of the living cultural tradition of the martial arts, seeks to practice and disseminate the humanistic teachings of the unity of the liberal and martial arts. Its principal activities are as follows:・Study and preservation of traditional Japanese culture・Promotion of the martial arts and martial arts instruction in Ja-pan and overseas・Publication of the journals Bulletin of the Institute of Budo and Moral Education, Martial Virtues, and Kokushi.・Sponsorship of lectures and seminars・Research on the Budo in the 21st century・Research on Budo for the DisabledWe deeply value the spirit on which Kokushikan University was founded — as an institution for fostering true Japanese kokushi (modern Samurai who serves the country) — and one might say the Institute is unique to this university.文ぶんぶ武の道みちは、私わたしたち日に本ほん人じんの歴れきし史のなかに伝でんとう統として生いき続つづけ、はるかなる時じだい代から現げんだい代に継けいしょう承されている文ぶんか化遺いさん産であるともいえます。また近きんねん年、武ぶどう道への関かんしん心と評ひょうか価は国こくない内のみならず、諸しょがいこく外国においても高たかまりつつあります。本ほん研けんきゅうじょ究所は、伝でんとう統文ぶんか化として今いまも継けいしょう承され、生いき続つづける武ぶ道どうの研けんきゅう究を通つうじ、文ぶんぶ武両りょうどう道の人にんげんがく間学の実じっせん践・普ふきゅう及を目もくてき的としており、主おもな研けんきゅう究活かつどう動は以いか下のとおりです。・日にほん本文ぶんか化の研けんきゅう究とその継けいしょう承・国こくないがい内外における武ぶどう道の普ふきゅう及および指しどう導・「研けんきゅうじょ究所紀きよう要」「武ぶとく徳」「国こくし士 」の発はっかん刊・講こうえんかい演会、研けんきゅうかい究会などの実じっし施・21世せいき紀の時じだい代における武ぶどう道の研けんきゅう究・障しょうがいしゃ害者武ぶどう道の研けんきゅう究真しんの日にほんじん本人、国こくし士の養ようせい成機きかん関として国こくし士舘かん大だいがく学建けんがく学の精せいしん神を重おもんじており、国こくし士舘かんならではの研けんきゅう究機きかん関といえるでしょう。
