These were the things I found out through a Japanese businessman I met while I was in Vietnam. Admiring such characteristics, I started studying Japanese and was able to come to Japan 10 months after that. After studying in Japan for 2 years, I decided to further continue my education because I wanted to learn more about Japan. I chose to enter Kokushikan University because my Japanese school teacher had recommended it and also because the school has various programs, is well known for sports and has a good reputation for its “Senpai-Kohai” relationships. I was surprised to find out how the classrooms and the libraries are so well-equipped after entering the university. I didn’t bring my laptop at first, so the computers in the 24-hour-open library were a great help. “Sky Lounge” on the 10th floor has a great view and students could relax with friends there. Although Setagaya Campus is in the middle of Tokyo, it has excellent sports facilities and I enjoyed taking table tennis classes with my classmates here. Currently, I am working in a position where I support and look after students from Vietnam. I am able to use my 6 year experience of living and studying in Japan to back up their needs. It is not an easy thing for people to come study in Japan from Vietnam. They have to work very hard to manage their lives and studies in Japan at the same time. Therefore, I’d like to support them as much as I can.　ベトナムで日本人のビジネスマンと接する機会があり、几帳面で勤勉、そして責任感の強い日本人にあこがれて日本語を勉強しました。10か月間日本語を勉強して、日本に留学することが出来ました。2年間日本語を勉強しましたが、もっと日本のことを知りたかったので進学する決意をしました。日本語学校の先生に勧められて、多くの学部があり、先輩後輩の繋がりが良くスポーツが盛んな国士舘大学を選びました。　国士舘大学に入学して、教室や図書館などの施設が整備されていることに驚きました。入学したときに自分のパソコンを持っておらず、図書館でパソコンを24時間使えるのは非常に確かりました。10階のスカイラウンジは眺めが良く、友達とリラックスした時間を過ごせます。都心にある世田谷キャンパスでもスポーツ施設が整っており、大好きな卓球をクラスメートと凄く楽しく受講しました。　現在は、ベトナムからの留学生をサポートしたり様々な面倒を見る仕事をしています。6年間の日本での生活と勉強の経験を生かして彼らの生活と勉強は楽しく上手くいけるように頑張ってフォローしています。ベトナムから日本に留学するのは決して簡単なことではありません。勉強と生活の両立は非常に努力をしなければなりません。このような理念で、日本での留学生を支援したいと思います。PYAI PHYO MYINT　ピー・ピョ・ミッDepartment of Asia 21, School of Asia 21　21世紀アジア学部21世紀アジア学科MyanmarミャンマーI have always liked Japan and Japanese since my childhood. That motive gave me the power to realize my study abroad in Japan. And with that motive, I started studying Japanese at University of Foreign Languages, Mandalay. When I was a second year student in my university, I participated in Kokushikan University’s information session held in Mandalay. I decided to enter Kokushikan because I found out that we not only can study business- related curriculum at the university’s School of Asia 21, but also can learn Japanese culture through lectures such as flowering arrangement and tea ceremony with a lot of foreign students. I was really impressed by the university and its curriculum.Soon after coming to Japan, I felt stressful and was anxious because of the cultural shocks, language barrier and environment change. But, with encouragement from other foreign students and help from international Center, things went well. My freshman year was full of wonder experiences: running a food-stand with my classmates at the school festival, watching firework, taking tea ceremony classes, experiencing homestay in Ishikawa prefecture, and interacting with foreign students from all over the world, etc. In the future, I hope to contribute to the relationship between Myanmar and Japan. So now, I am doing my best studying, experiencing and participating in everything I can at Kokushikan.Study abroad in Japan and at Kokushikan has really helped my personal growth. 　子供の時からの日本人や日本のことを好きだった気持ちは、私を日本に留学することになるまで、支えてくれた原動力でした。その原動力があって、高卒後、ミャンマーのマンダレー外国語大学で日本語を選びました。大学二年生の時に、国士舘大学の大学説明会に出席し、21世紀アジア学部でアジアのビジネスシーンに必要な科目を総合的に習得することだけでなく、日本の文化である華道や茶道を勉強することもでき、留学生も大勢いるため、国士館大学に入りたいと思いました。　　最初のときは、カルチャーショックや環境が変わったこと、日本語で授業を受けることなどで不安やストレスを感じました。しかし、留学生の友達がお互いに励みあうことや留学生支援センターの方々が親切に分からないことを案内してくれたりして、不便なことはなかったです。私にとって一年生のときはいい思い出いっぱいでした。学園祭の時クラスメートと一緒に屋台を出したこと、夏に友達と一緒に花火大会に行ったこと、華道の授業を受けて日本の文化を習ったこと、夏休みに国際交流センターのお知らせをみて、石川県でホームスティーをし、世界各国からの留学生と交流したことなど、色々な経験ができました。　将来は日本とミャンマーの架け橋のようなお仕事をして、日本とミャンマーのため貢献していきたいと思います。今は、国士舘大学でよく勉強しながら、友達と一緒に様々な活動に参加し、留学生生活を多様多彩に送りながら、将来のため、精一杯に頑張っています。日本に留学し、国士舘大学に入って本当に自分が成長していると思います。VIVI TRIANI ADRIS　フィフィ・トリアニ・アドリスGraduate School of Political Science, Program in Political Science(Doctoral Courses)政治学研究科　政治学専攻　博士課程IndonesiaインドネシアI have always dreamed to study in Japan because I majored Japanese and Japanese Culture in Indonesia University.When I was a second year student of graduate school, my classmate who study in Kokushikan University introduced me professor. Professor asked me some exciting questions such as “What is your dream?” “What is your plan after completing graduate school?” “Don’t you think your academic knowledge should utilize for your country and, moreover, for your own good?” This interview made me making up my mind to study in Japan and enroll Kokushikan University Doctoral Course. During the first year after visiting Japan, I studied as a research student of graduate school of political science. Then, I learnt, realized and experienced so many things interaction with many Japanese and foreign students. Also, my academic supervisor helped me eagerly and I successfully enrolled doctoral course finally.Kokushikan University has many lecture and seminar stimulating inquisitiveness. Faculties specialty is vary, so students can learn from so many academic fields. We can learn interested academic field aside from major course. Student can learn and register lectures not only specific field but also another academic field they want to learn. In addition to majoring subject, I am participating “Japanese Reading” “English Reading” and Japan Program to develop my reading, thinking skills and analytical abilities. It helps to develop my critical thinking and expanding perspective of the world. There are a lot of significant facilities such as “Maple Century Hall”, which supports student daily life, health, hobbies and future. Also, supportive function, such as International Center, Career Formation Support Center and Library, is available to enjoy everyday campus life and gain necessity information such as scholarship. In the future, I hope to be scholar to contribute further friendship between Indonesia and Japan. For that purpose, I do my best my research in this historical, glocal environment. I am looking forward seeing you in Kokushikan University.　インドネシアで日本語と日本文化を専攻していた私は、日本に留学することはずっと夢でした。大学院2年生のとき、既に国士舘大学大学院に在籍していた同級生が教授を紹介してくれました。教授に「自分の夢は何？修士後はどうする？自分が勉強してきたこと、研究してきたことは将来、自分の国、そして何よりも自分のために、もっと役に立たせたくない？」と、とても刺激的な質問を聞かれましたが、そのおかげで、国士舘大学で博士課程に進学することを決意し、来日しました。　来日一年目は政治学研究科に研究生として通っていました。日本人学生と色んな国から来た留学生とふれ合いながら、色んなことを学び、実感し、経験もしました。そして、教授の指導の下、博士課程に入学できました。　国士舘大学には、魅力的な授業やゼミが沢山あります。教授の専門や研究分野も幅広く、学習者にとっては知りたい放題、学びたい放題の場所だと思います。そして、自分の興味や専門の他にも、自分がもっと知りたい分野の授業やゼミにも参加できるので、まさに学問的な環境があるキャンパスです。私は、研究者として必要な「読む力」「考える力」「分析力」等を身につけるために、専攻の授業の他に、「文献購読日本語」、「文献購読英語」とJapan Programの講義にも参加しています。どちらも、自分の世界観を広めてくれただけではなく、自分のクリティカルシンキングも引き出してくれているので、大きなメリットを得ています。　その他、国際交流センター、学生キャリアセンター、中央図書館、そして世田谷キャンパスに新しくできたMaple Century Hall等のような、学生の生活も将来も趣味も健康も、優しくサポートしてくれる設備も整え、毎日、安心で楽しいキャンパスライフが送っています。国際交流センターのサポートで奨学金の情報などはすぐに手に入れられます。　私は将来、インドネシアと日本の間の友好を強める研究・教育世界に研究者として貢献していきたいと思っています。そのために、このグローカル的で伝統や歴史を持つキャンパスで研究生活を楽しく頑張っていきたいと思います。ここで皆さんとお会いする日を楽しみにしています。Lee yuju 李　洧周（イ ユジュ）Department of Asia 21, School of Asia 2121世紀アジア学部21世紀アジア学科3 years ago, I joined a Japan and Korea cultural exchange gathering in Korea. It was then that I started to have interests toward Japan and I came here by a working holiday visa. At the time, I read an article saying that very few specialists in the Ko-rean policy toward Japan have actual Japanese study abroad experience. On top of that, because I want to learn about Japanese culture and life, I decided to enter the School of Asia 21 at Kokushikan University to learn about Japan and Asia.A good thing about studying here is that we can learn practical and specialized knowledge about Asia. Through ower arrangement, tea ceremony and traditional Asian music performances, I came to have a deeper understanding of Japanese culture. When we participated in the Japan study tour, we used candles to spell out “Kokushikan” at Kusatsu Hot Spring Town. That was another fun experience to gain while studying at Kokushikan.In my 4 year study in Japan, I learned the cultural and lifestyle differences between Ja-pan and Korea and deepened my foreign culture understanding. Through learning Jap-anese, I have broadened my communication skills and I hope to use these experiences and skills to contribute to more cultural exchanges between Japan and Korea.私は3年前に韓国で日韓文化交流会に参加したのをきっかけに、日本に興味を持ちワーキングホリデービザで日本に来日しました。日本で生活していたとき、対日政策を担当している専門家で日本で勉強した経験のある人が極めて少ないという新聞記事を見ました。そして日本で日本の文化や生活を学びたいと考え、アジア、そして日本を中心として学べる国士舘大学21世紀アジア学部に入学することにしました。国士舘大学に入って良かったと思うことは、日本を中心としたアジアの実践的かつ専門的な知識が学習できることです。また、華道や茶道、アジア伝統音楽などの文化パフォーマンスを通じ、日本の文化を深く学べることです。また、国士舘大学に入って楽しかったことは日本研修に参加し、草津温泉の町にキャンドルで「国士舘」という文字を作ったことです。この4年間日本での留学生活で日本の文化や生活の違いを知り、異文化理解を深めたいと思います。また、言葉を学びながら広い世界とコミュニケーションする力を身につけ、身につけた力を生かし、日韓文化交流を活性化させたいと考えています。Korea韓国Jin Yue 金　月Department of Science and Engineering, School of Science and Engineering理工学部理工学科With an interest in China’s city environment, I came to study in Japan. Japan has some excellent measurements and policies toward disaster management. These days, especially, the idea of tearing down old buildings and rebuilding new ones has been replaced by the idea of repairing, managing and maintaining buildings. With that, I believe Kokushikan University’s Urban Design and Landscape Architecture major would be the most suitable for me and that is why I decided to study here.In university, I once again realized the importance of knowing the characteristics and traits of each town and knowing how to preserve the living environment for the people. At Kokushikan, I can study many different subjects, e.g. specialized knowl-edge like “trafc system”, “earthquake engineering” and skills that are helpful for foreign students’ job hunting like “business Japanese” and “vocabulary extension.” Students majoring in Urban Design and Landscape Architecture have to participate in a school eld trip to observe the bridge at Ryokoku in their freshman year to learn about city planning and to maintain close ties with the locals. I became close with my classmates from participating in the trip. Professors and classmates are very kind to foreign students like me and the international center also provides supports when we need help. I also had the chance to experience Japanese culture through participating in events like homestays and hot spring trips. There are many foreign students here at Kokushikan, so we can also learn other lan-guages besides Japanese. I have lived in Japan for 4 years and I feel like I am losing my English as I only use Japanese in my daily life now, so I decided to join the English conversation lessons at Kokushikan. By participating in events like watching and dis-cussing about English movies, I am able to improve both my Japanese and English.In the future, I will use the knowledge and experiences that I learned in school for job hunting and for volunteer works toward Tokyo Olympics which will be held 6 years later. In order to do so, I will study hard to learn the special knowledge about my major and to be able to explain the beauty of Japan to tourists from various countries.中国で都市環境に興味を持っている私は、日本へ留学することにしました。日本では、災害に対する対策や方針などが充実していて、特に、今の時代はものを壊して作るのではなく、今後は補修や管理により、ものを長く維持することが大切であると考えています。国士舘大学の都市ランドスケープ学系は最も適していると思い志望しました。大学で、それぞれの町の特性を知りながら、人々の生活環境を保つことが最も重要だと新たに認識しました。そこで、「交通システム」や「地震工学」などの専門科目からはじめ、外国人留学生に向け就職活動のとき役に立つ「ビジネス日本語」や「語彙力アップ」などの科目が揃っていて、幅広く勉強することができます。都市ランドスケープ学系では、ただ都市の設計をするこのではなく、そこに住む人々とのつながりも大切で、大学一年生のはじめは、校外学習をし、両国で、橋梁見学をしました。そのおかげで、クラスメートと仲良くなれました。留学生である私は、大学の先生方や学友達は優しく接してくれて、また、わからなかったことや困ったことがあるとき、国際交流センターをサポートしてくれます。大学では、ホームスティーや温泉旅行などのイベントを参加することにより日本の深い文化を自分の身で経験することもできます。国士舘大学では、外国籍の留学生が多く、日本語以外の外国語を学びたいとき、とても役に立ちます。来日４年目になりまして、毎日日本語で生活をしている一方、英語を忘れてしまったため、英会話に参加しました。イギリスやアメリカなど映画鑑賞をするイベントに参加し、交流しながら、日本語力も英語力も上達するとこができました。これから、学校で積んだ経験は就職する際に生かして、また６年後の東京オリンピックに向かい、ボランティア活動に参加したいと強く思っています。そのとき、学校で学んだ専門知識はもちろん、いろいろな国の観光客に日本の美しさを詳しく説明するために、頑張っていきたいと思います。China中国Nicolas Baldin ニコラス・バルディンDepartment of Literature, Major in Japanese Literature and Culture,Faculty of Letters文学部文学科　日本文学・文化専攻（交換留学生）As for why I chose Kokushikan University as the destination of my exchange year in Japan there were mainly two reasons: One being its beautiful and convenient location in the heart of Tokyo, which was of utmost importance in regards to my study project I was dedicating myself to during my time in Japan; whereas the other reason lies in the university’s comparatively small size and the modernity of its facilities on-campus. While Kokushikan University might be a rather small college compared to other big-name schools in Tokyo this comes with a great number of benets for each and every student, e.g. one of which being the time and eorts university sta and teachers can dedicate to the support and mentoring of each individual student.It’s just so hard to pick out just one of the many fun and vivid memories I made while studying in Kokushikan University: I will never forget when I rst set foot on the Setagaya campus and saw the old, awe-inspiring dōjo imposing itself in the middle of the schoolyard, surrounded by a group of cherry trees in bloom. I still remember all the fun events and eld trips the faculty of international affairs organized for us exchange students, introducing us not only to Japan’s culture and landscape but also the famous omote-nashi, the heart of Japanese hospitality. And then there was of course the breath-taking panorama view one has over the whole Setagaya district and surrounding areas, when setting foot in the school’s top-oor cafeteria, the so aptly called Sky Lounge, on a fair-weather day.I can say without the least bit of doubt that this past year in Japan has been the most amazing and inspiring experience in my life thus far. I made a myriad of unforgettable memories, found new friends and comrades and also gained strength, experience of life and a tad of wisdom as well. – For all I know, this will not be my last time in Japan for it has only been the prologue! Thanks Kokushikan University for all the kindness I have received throughout this year and I hope to see you all again someday!!留学先に日本及び国士館大学を希望した理由は大きく2つの理由があります。1つ目は、東京と漫画の関係についての研究をする上で有利であり、東京都心にある利便的且つ綺麗な大学であると聞いたからです。2つ目は、施設の現代性と学生数における利点が魅力的だった。例えば、学生が比較的に少ないことで、先生方による厚いサポートが各々の学生に当てられるからです。本学留学中に作った沢山の鮮烈で楽しい思い出の中から1つを選ぶことは難しい。だが、初めて世田谷校舎に足を踏み入れた時、学内の中心に建てられ、桜の木々に囲まれた趣きある荘厳な「大講堂」を見て感服したことを決して忘れないだろう。国際交流課による愉快な行事、日本文化や風景を始め、日本人の歓待の心である名高い「オモテナシ」を紹介された。また、校舎最上階の学食「スカイラウンジ」で見られるパノラマ風景も勿論忘れられない。日本で過ごしたこの1年間は間違いなく、私の人生において最も素晴しく、感激するような経験だった。私はいつまでも記憶に残る数え切れないほど多くの思い出を作った上、新しい友人と仲間、勇気と力、人生経験と尊い知恵を与えられた。この1年間を通して受けた本学の思いやりの全てに感謝します。またいつか再会しよう！Germanyドイツ
