Lifelong Learning Center

Kokushikan University launched the Lifelong Learning Center in 2000, in an effort to contribute to the educational, scientific and cultural development of the community by opening the university's facilities and intellectual assets to the general public. The Lifelong Learning Center has three campuses located in Setagaya, Tsurukawa and Tama, and is engaged in the following types of educational activities.

  1. Certification examination preparation courses for regularly enrolled students, to assist their career development efforts.
  2. Spring, fall and winter session "Open Classroom" courses for the general public, ranging from youths to adults.
  3. Joint courses linking the university in Setagaya ward to realize pleasant lifelong learning that can take place anywhere, at any time.

Other distinctive activities implemented by the Lifelong Learning Center include the publication of a"Academia Series"as a compendium of the university's law courses; participation in the "Setagaya e-College"whereby individuals can study at their homes, whenever they like, via their personal computers; and activities to promote and educate the public about the use of Automated External Defibrillators (AED) for emergency treatment of sudden cardiac arrest.
